Chiropractic Care in Ottawa

Sandy Hill Wellness provides chiropractic care at 323 Chapel St. in Ottawa with Dr. Isabelle Roy-Battista, DC. Care is holistic and rooted in a nervous system assessment, and every plan is built around what the assessment actually shows.

What we look at

A thorough assessment from the start

New patients receive a full assessment before any care begins. It covers your history, your nervous system, and how you actually move.

  • Health history and a conversation about what brought you in
  • Nervous system assessment
  • Posture and movement evaluation
  • X-rays when needed, at a nearby clinic, no charge with a valid Ontario health card
  • Care and adjustment on the first visit when appropriate

If X-rays are needed, we refer you to an imaging clinic just around the corner. For Ontario residents with a valid Ontario health card, there is no charge for X-rays. Visitors from outside Ontario may need to pay for X-rays.

What people come in with

Common reasons people book

People usually come to us after being told to live with something. These are the patterns we see most often in Sandy Hill and central Ottawa.

  • Neck and back strain from long hours at a desk
  • Headaches and jaw tension
  • Posture and mobility that has slowly changed
  • Care through pregnancy
  • Dance, sport and repetitive strain
  • Wanting to understand what is going on before deciding anything
Techniques

A variety of gentle and effective techniques

Dr. Isabelle offers a variety of gentle and effective chiropractic techniques tailored to each patient's needs.

Thompson

Drop table technique for gentle, low-force adjustments.

Activator

Instrument-assisted, low-force, ideal for sensitive patients.

Diversified & Gonstead

Classic hands-on spinal adjustment for precise corrections.

Toggle & NSA

Gentle neurological approaches for whole-body integration.

Webster Technique

A specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment of the pelvis and sacrum, used through pregnancy. The goal is to reduce joint restriction and support balanced pelvic and nervous system function as the body changes. It is suitable at any stage and is not dependent on the baby's position. Dr. Isabelle was trained in the Webster Technique during her doctoral studies, by an ICPA instructor.

Sacro Occipital Technique

A gentle, low force approach that uses padded wedges under the pelvis and lets your own body weight do the work. Dr. Isabelle assesses how the pelvis and the base of the skull relate to each other, then works with that relationship rather than forcing it. Often a good fit if you are nervous about being adjusted.

CMRT (Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique)

Part of the Sacro Occipital Technique approach. CMRT is a system of organ function analysis and treatment as it relates to the spine and the occipital tendon insertions. It uses soft tissue reflexes alongside the adjustment, forms part of a wider assessment, and is not used on its own.

Myofascial therapy

Soft tissue work Dr. Isabelle may use with existing patients as part of ongoing care, alongside adjustment. It is not booked on its own.

How Dr. Isabelle works

Holistic, hands on, and specific to you

Dr. Isabelle takes a holistic, hands on approach. She begins with the nervous system, then addresses the spine and the whole body, and tailors every visit to the person in front of her.

A dancer and dance teacher herself, Dr. Isabelle brings a detailed understanding of how bodies move and where strain builds up.

Chiropractic care here is about finding the cause and explaining it clearly, so you can make your own decision about what comes next.
